Create > Color Cutout Portraits

Create an abstracted self portrait using a specific color scheme emphasizing mood.

Studio Activity:
  1. Crop a portrait photo (7"x10")
  2. Image>Adjust>Levels to increase the contrast
  3. Filter>Artistic>Cutout
  4. Print, Grid and Transfer to a board
  5. Choose a color scheme to evoke a specific mood (See Below)
  6. Render in acrylic paint

Color Schemes:
  • Triad Harmonies:  three equidistant hues
  • Complementary Colors: opposite hues
  • Split Complementary:  One hue with hues on either side of its complement
  • Analogous:  adjacent hues
